Is there such a thing as a perfect musical in the world?
I don't know the answer, but I think I can pick a few candidates.
One of them, of course, is Disney's musical Lion King.
It is the musical that features the coolest lion in the world.
Great musicals don't just give us fun. There are also life wisdom that we need to learn in musicals.
It is the same with the musical Lion King.
Then, what kind of wisdom can we learn from the Disney musical Lion King?
● Nature revolves around…Circle of Life
The coolest scene in the musical Lion King is the opening 'Circle of Life'.
Thanks to this scene where Pride Rock's animals pass through the audience and head onto the stage, the musical Lion King was able to become the most perfect musical candidate in the world.
"We eat bison, but when we die, our bodies are grass. And bison eats the grass. We're in a cycle. in the great course of nature".
This is what Mufasa, a father lion, tells his son Simba. This short line contains the wisdom of a wonderful life.
There is a story similar to this in Korea.
A long time ago, a father who was a farmer taught his son.
"People poo when they eat. Poop makes manure for rice. Manure becomes rice again and enters our mouths."
Yes, to our ancestors, rice was poo, and poo was rice.
Do you believe in the existence of God?
If you believe in the existence of God, you will agree that Circle of Life in the musical Lion King is an important principle for the creator to run the universe.
We can even learn the principles of God's space operation through the Circle of Life of the musical Lion King.
What a great musical!
● "Don't worry"...Hakuna matata
Hakuna Matata is an African Swahili language that means "Don't worry about anything."
Also, Hakuna Matata is a famous line that even those who have not seen the Lion King know.
Hakuna Matata is a word told by Meerkat Timon and Pig Pumba to Simba, who felt responsible for the death of his father Mufasa.
In fact, Hakuna Matata does not only play a positive role in the musical Lion King.
Because of Hakuna Matata, Simba forgets his father's revenge and gets used to a comfortable life.
What is clear, however, is that Hakuna Matata helped Simba grow into a great young lion.
Hakuna Matata is a word that contains the deep wisdom of Africans.
Many religions in the world teach us to "live this moment."
The past is past.
The future is yet to come.
The only thing that matters to us is this moment.
Jesus Christ said something similar.
Jesus said in the Gospel of Matthew, "Let tomorrow worry about tomorrow." Today's suffering is enough for today.
● "Who are you?"
The soul of the dead father Mufasa tells Simba in frustration.
"Look into yourself, Simba. You haven't reached your true self yet. Don't forget who you are."
"Know yourself"
It's a famous saying of Socrates.
Actually 'know me' is a very heavy question.
Every religion and philosophy in the world has been studying for thousands of years to get an answer to this problem.
The research is still under way.
Mufasa gives Simba a hint.
"Find yourself in Circle of Life".
● Will you run away from the past or overcome it?
Rapiki, the philosopher of the musical Lion King, says.
"It can hurt because of the past. But you have a choice. Run away from it, or overcome it."
Everyone has a painful past.
We all don't want to draw the painful past out of our memories.
Most people bury it in the ground or run away.
But you can't run away forever.
If you can't escape, you have to overcome it. And learn by overcoming. This was Rafiki's advice.
Do you want to run away from a painful past?
Or will you fight bravely and overcome it?
To be honest, I haven't decided yet.
The mind wants to fight, but the body still seems to be preparing to run away.
That's why I have to watch the musical Lion King again.
