Violinist KIM DAMI is currently one of the most famous and popular female violinists in Korea, along with Clara Jumi Kang and Kim Bom-sori.

KIM DAMI finished second at the Paganini International Violin Competition (2010, no first place). And he won the Hanover International Violin Competition (2012).

Currently, KIM DAMI teaches students as a professor at Seoul National University and is actively engaged in performance activities.

Today, I will tell you the story of KIM DAMI studying at Curtis.

Many violinists are challenging for the competition.

The same goes for Korean violinists.

This is because winning the world-class competition can change their lives at once.

Think of Chopin Concours winner CHOSEONG JIN.

The KIM DAMI has a unique record.

She is a successful violinist and a competitor.

Of course she didn't top all the competitions.

However, KIM DAMI won all the contests he participated in.

Even if she didn't win the top prize, she never returned 'empty-handed' in every contest.

However, KIM DAMI debuted late in the competition.

Her friends have been preparing and participating in the competition since high school, but KIM DAMI had to watch.

KIM DAMI participated in the competition for the first time in her second year of college.

The Curtis Conservatory was open to young people.

KIM DAMI attended both the Curtis Conservatory and Curtis High School.

There was a reason why KIM DAMI did not participate in the competition.

This was because Curtis High School teacher did not allow KIM DAMI to participate in the competition.

The teacher at KIM DAMI had the name Miriam.

KIM DAMI envied her friends who participated in the competition to get a chance to succeed, but she couldn't help it.

She just thought, "I guess I'm still not good enough."

Miriam said, "You shouldn't participate in a competition to gain experience. Don't participate in the competition if you're not confident in winning the prize," he said sternly said.

Instead of allowing KIM DAMI to participate in the competition, Miriam gave her a huge assignment.

For example, if Miriam gave Kim Dami a concerto assignment, she had to read all the scores in a week.

The following week, Kim Da-mi had to memorize the first movement, and the following week, she had to memorize the second and third movements.

It was a schedule to complete a concerto in three weeks.

This was an incredibly hard work.

To participate in the competition, you have to practice only one piece.

Practicing one piece every day is repeated.

Miriam wanted KIM DAMI to learn as many works as possible.

It's like swimming and cycling, which can be used for life if you learn it when you're young.

If you learn a lot of works in your childhood, you will have a wealth of repertoires that you can play when you become a professional player.

KIM DAMI said, "What I learned as a child and what I learned as an adult are definitely different."

Thanks to Miriam, KIM DAMI has become a violinist with many repertoires.

KIM DAMI said, "I am still using many repertoires that I learned then."

Although her competition debut was late, KIM DAMI, who had developed enough 'musical muscles', became a great performer in all competitions.

Miriam was right.
